There is only
one expert on
your life: you.

We're just here to give you the tools.

At Modern Parenthood, we believe parenthood is the most important transition many of us will ever go through. It reopens many of life's biggest questions — not just once, but over and over again.

We think the story that unfolds after should be written by design, not by default. Not by anyone else but you.

As you author that story, we're here to give you a helping hand along the way — with products and experiences that we hope make you think deeply, design intentionally, and one day make you say: "That changed my life."

Our first offering is our newsletter, Notes on Modern Parenthood. You can subscribe for free here.

A note from the founder
Riya Pabari

Riya Pabari

Founder @ Modern Parenthood

For the last decade, I've been motivated by a simple idea: that the right learning experience, at the right moment in someone's life, can meaningfully alter their trajectory.

Over that time, I have built and scaled learning experiences that have changed many people's lives — in small and big ways — and that gives me immense joy.

When I became a parent in 2023, it struck me as a learning challenge. I needed to upskill for the most important role of my life. That's when the idea for Modern Parenthood was born.

Here are 7 common threads from the products I've built before that you'll see woven into everything we create @ Modern Parenthood:

Interdisciplinary curricula: there's magic at the intersection of domains

Applied learning: knowledge is a rumour until it lives in the muscle

Networked learning: the cohort is part of the curriculum

A focus on human literacies: they have the longest half-life & most universal application

A focus on transitions: they are fertile periods for growth, but also require support

Frameworks as the atomic unit of learning: they build the furniture of the mind

Respect for heutagogy (self-determined learning): you are the only expert on your life

I am still new to parenthood, and have so much to learn. I hope you'll join me on the journey.

The approach

We work in the space between ideas and daily life.

A great deal of useful thinking already exists. Our work isn't to produce more of it, it's to make it usable.

01

Curate

We read widely and choose carefully. Often the most useful insights aren't found in parenting advice alone, but across psychology, philosophy, behavioural science, leadership & lived experience.

02

Synthesise

We connect threads across disciplines, generations & cultures. We look for patterns and deeper truths to unearth the ideas that will have the most profound impact on your life.

03

Translate

We turn insight into application. Our goal is to arm you with a rich treasure chest of practical tools — some borrowed, some entirely your own — that you take pride in using in your day-to-day life.

The Aspiration

The aspiration is small, and quietly large:

that a generation of parents make small choices each day to design family lives they recognise as their own — and that these small choices travel further than we know, shaping the homes our children will one day make, and the children they raise inside them.
